Fan Recipe – Idli Manchurian

It’s like giving a make over to the dish, giving it a new life. That is exactly what our reader Jayti from Mumbai has tried with her new recipe of Idli Manchurian. She has shared with us her zingy new recipe of idli with a chinese twist. You can have this for your snack or serve it as a starter for your guests, have it the way you like it!

Recipe:


Ingredients:

Idlis – 10 to 12

Oil – 2 tsp

Chopped ginger – 1 tsp

Chopped Garlic – 1 tbsp

Chopped Green chillies – 1 tsp

Chopped onions – 2

Capsicum(julienne) – 1

Soy sauce – 2 tbsp

Chili sauce – 1 tsp

Tomato ketchup – 1 tsp

Black pepper – 1/4 tsp

water – 1 cup

3 to 4 tbsp of cornflour slurry(mix 2 to 3 tbsp of cornflour to 1/4th cup of water).

salt to taste

For Garnish:

chopped spring onions

Method:

Cut 10 to 12 idlis in 4 pieces and deep fry them till golden. Soak in an absorbent paper. In a pan, add oil, chopped ginger, garlic and green chilies. Saute for a while. Then add chopped onions, capsicum (cut into julienne), then add soy sauce, chilli sauce, tomato ketchup, salt to taste and black pepper. Mix it thoroughly. Then add 1 cup of water and cornflour slurry. Cook till it thickens. Then add the idlis.

Garnish with spring onions and serve with fried rice or noodles.
