On a breezy Wednesday morning, eight of us decided to go to this place which is famous for breakfast. It’s called the Tea Center. When a friend of mine suggested me this place I wondered why it’s called “Tea Center” when there’s a host of other things also available. As soon as I went through the menu I realized that the teas were indeed the heroes and thus the name fits well. They serve 48 different flavours and 8-10 types of teas. I wouldn’t be wrong if I say that everything else is just an accompaniment to the amazing flavours of tea served.
We tried 4 types of teas. The first one, highly recommended to us, was the follow link Hot Buttered Apple Tea. It was something different. What did it taste like exactly? Well, heated apple juice with proportionate Amul butter in it could probably be the apt description of the taste. Before you think of ruling this one out, let me tell you, it did taste very nice. Second one was the Kulhad Masala Chai. Slightly on the spicy side, the tea was a refreshing experience served in clay glasses called “Kulhar”. The aroma and the taste along with the presentation in kulhar drew a picture of a sipping tea on a charpai in an Indian village.
Next was the Kashmiri Kahwa. This tea was as rich as Kashmir is in its scenic beauty. With a strong taste of cinnamon and cardamon enriched with almonds, pistachio and saffron this tea is definitely the one the Kings would love on their breakfast table every morning. The last was the Ginger Lime tea. It had a strong punch of ginger with a dash of lime to make just right.
In the accompaniment the Mushroom On Toast and Veg Pesto Sandwich were the best. While both tasted quite similar they were equally creamy. If you like creamy pesto pasta, you’ll love both the preparations.
Open Face Sandwich served here was nothing like the ones we get at CCD, it’s different in a way and better. There are 3 options available of which we tried baked beans. It was totally different from the baked beans on toast, very tasty. The Veg Club Sandwich, Chilly Cheese Toast, Baked Beans on Toast and Bruschetta were like you get else where, delicious but nothing different.
The Aloo Paratha I’m afraid was a total disappointment. It hardly had any stuffing inside and was bland. I wouldn’t recommend it.
1st Place goes to Teas, they were the real heroes.
2nd Place is shared by Mushroom on toast and Veg Pesto Sandwich.
3rd Place goes to Open Face Sandwich.
Bruschetta, Chilly Cheese Toast, Veg Club Sandwich and Baked Beans on toast are given consolation prizes while Aloo Paratha is disqualified from the race.
