Colombiana Cappuccino and Coding

A fine winter Saturday morning I happened to be in Bandra for a meeting with one of my client. We chose Bru World Cafe for the meeting. I was before time. The cafe was relatively empty and it was a pleasant morning so I chose to sit outside. I caught the corner table which was surrounded by plants bearing beautiful flowers. I ordered a cup of Colombiana Cappuccino and started working on my laptop.
Colombiana Cappuccino
My coffee was served with a chocolate and a big smile. I often feel amazed how just a smile changes the experience completely. We all should smile more often. I’ve generally observed that people in a lot foreign countries don’t hesitate to smile at you if an eye contact is made. That’s definitely one thing we should practice more often here. So I start sipping the coffee glancing at the beautiful plants, the flowers it bore and the view from the cafe. I felt a sudden calm and happiness.
I looked around and place felt more real and different. It felt like I was realizing it now. A couple of more sips and I was lost in my own world. I started thinking what if my everyday was like this. A room or a house on looking a beautiful view of the nature, a cup of exotic coffee or tea by your side and your workstation. Wouldn’t that seem like an ideal work environment? Who isn’t a fan of nature. But imagine how incredibly awesome it could be to work right amidst it, no?
Right before the peak winter set in, I along with my family went on a trip to Uttrakhand. As a part of the tour we visited a beautiful hill station called Kausani. The reason why this place became famous is the view of the majestic Himalayas. The picture show a similar view I had from my hotel room. It was surreal. I was in love with the place. A small village like town, scarcely populated, lovely climate, breath taking view and so very peaceful. Imagine if every morning you wake up and are blessed with such a serene view. What more could one ask for in life don’t you think?

In my mind I had already made plans to settle down at Kausani. As a software developer and a blogger all I need is my laptop and a stable internet connection, which is not hard to arrange at any place these days.

enter site Going deeper into the thinking mode I thought even a beach and a shack setup instead of the hill station and mountain range view would be a pleasant experience. Lying on the resting chair over looking the beautiful beach and the sea and working on the laptop while sipping on Pinacolada, super! This thought gave a stronger backing to the idea of working on the go. Arrive at a new destination, stick around for a couple weeks, enjoy whatever the place has to offer. And right when you think you’ve soaked in everything, you move on. Find another beautiful destination with beautiful people and delicious food. Many a times I wonder was man happier when he lived like a wanderer? It might not seem like a wise idea to keep wandering all your life perhaps. But for a couple of years while we’re young and energetic, before the responsibilities set in, it seems like an idea worth pursuing, no?

As that thought settled my client arrived and I got back to business. But this thought has never left my mind. I am a big fan of travelling, food and technology. To me if all three could be combined together  that would be an ideal life. Definitely not difficult to achieve. Perhaps someday I will make this dream into a reality.
